Gili Lankanfushi is certainly not like anyone of those island-hotel-resorts you have been to in the Maldives !!! Although it caters to a sophisticated high-end well-travelled population, they conjugate “luxury” at the simple present tense. The most important word here is “simple” and it is synonymous of “natural”. Simple & natural as the heavenly beauty of its site : just check a few of my pictures posted and you will have a visual translation of it. Simple & natural as the accommodation. We have gone with the utmost experience which we can recommend to you without reservation. The Sunset Crusoe Villas will plunge you in the middle of the lagoon as if you were alone on this island ... Simple & natural as the design, decoration and raw materials for all the villas. Needless to say that you will feel the luxury, the utmost comfort but you will not see it. The color coding and material choice are simple and natural : wood, palm, glass, cotton and linen for the materials, while the colors go from pale grey, white, sand, and natural wood. How can you go wrong ?!... The designer studio which excelled in this exercise has clearly opted for giving the nature the place it deserved : the blues of the sky and of the waters, the yellow of the sun, the white of the sand and the green of the luxuriant nature, are the only elements of color in the resort. Simple & natural in the service offered with so much attention, generosity, and true care by the local & international team. You do not know when they sleep as you see them all day and night - like a swarm of bees - by you when you need them and vanishing in their bee hive to allow you to have your privacy and feel detached from the societal environment. Simple & natural like all the genuine products of the earth and of the sea that Executive Chef Harry along with F&B Manager Rodrigo will be composing with mastery to offer you the most varied and unlimited fooding experience as we haven’t had in a long time. Simple & natural as the activities you will try like we did, ranging from a romantic dinner on the sand bar under the stars, a sunset in this rustic but über-luxurious small wood sailboat, a snorkeling moment on the reef by day or by night, a detox relaxing afternoon at the Spa floating on the turquoise waters of the lagoon and receiving healing treatments by Sara, or any of the other therapists. Simple & natural as the management team from GM David, Deputy GM Nicolas, E.Chef Harry, F&B Manager Rodrigo, Maître D’ Siyam, and our amazingly devoted “Friday” : Mister Fiyaz himself ! Simple & natural as - last but not least - the guests during the week of our stay : so discrete and friendly, so much in adequacy with the spirit, the values and the DNA of this one-of-a-kind island-hotel !!! I am thrilled to have experienced with my partner this exceptional holiday and - needless to say - that we will be back sooner than later : we will book the very same villa as we felt it was our new home !... …
Our recent family holiday in Gili Lankanfushi was undeniably the best experience we’ve had at any resort we’ve stayed in. My wife and i were last here in our honeymoon in 2009 (soneva gili)and decided to stay here again. The resort has changed ownership and i must admit; the experience this time was far superior! We stayed in the private reserve which was the experience of a lifetime- our Mr. and Mrs Friday (Rasheed and Naf) were exceptionally brilliant in the way they looked after us; we have never experienced better service anywhere- a huge thanks to both of them! It is difficult to find the words to describe staying in the reserve other than to say it was truly an experience of a lifetime!! (having said that i’ll be back again) The food and beverage were a cut above the rest of the resorts we’ve stayed in the maldives. Chef Hari and his team delivered the most personalised service and exceeded our expectations on every request. The food quality at every restaurant was exceptional and we couldn’t have asked for anything more! We are immensely grateful for their hospitality. On the whole the GM David and his entire team is what make Gili so special. The hospitality is second to none and they truly made us feel like family. I would highly recommend the resort to anyone who wants to truly experience perfection! Thanks to the entire Gili team and sorry for taking a while to write this! 😀 …
I've never been to a resort I loved, until this one; it wasn't just better than I had hoped - it was better than I even could have imagined. Everything about it totally blew me away. Every little detail of the villa, the island, the service, and every other aspect of the overall experience was clearly consciously designed and attended to, with a care and craftsmanship that was just breathtaking to discover, detail by detail. Gili is now one of my favorite places in the world; I'll be back regularly.
Simply the best! Our stay at Gilli Lankanfushi was just one of the nicest experiences from the second we hopped on the boat transfer to Gilli to the very last moment we waved goodbye. What was so enjoyable? To begin with the grounds are immaculate with beautiful foliage ages old yet super clean everywhere. This place has seen many a thousand guest over the decades yet you will be as warmly welcomed as if you were the first. This effortless engagement remains consistent everywhere through the stay- a clear sign of a well managed and solid resort because employees are happy and proud to be working there and you feel this as a guest. Second the facilities are very well managed - beautiful relaxing spa and excellent gym with superbly well maintained machines and the option to play your own music set your own climate - effectively your own private gym. A busy program of activities available from tasting to cooking classes run by pros and lots of sunrise and sunset sailing options as well as the usual water sports. We saw a lot of marine life and at some point even a Napoleon fish which is rare. We had a sunset water Villa which was NW facing and perfect for us as we always had a lovely breeze and slight shade in the hot afternoons. There is some noise on this side from Male traffic so if you prefer quiet then go for one of those facing away from that side. Breakfast was at the beautiful beach every morning a little deeper water there for those who like but we preferred to swim around shallow waters closer and accessible directly from the Villa. Some stand out things which set this resort/ experience apart from others we have been to in the Maldives even if some are small details: - the food in general at this resort is very high quality with best produce and no skimping on premium goods eg. fruit and veg. we ate at the pool and breakfast bar (Kashiveli)/ In room dining/ speciality restaurants and they were all very impressive. In particular we enjoyed the immensely talented Chef Abraham's cooking at the "By The Sea" titled Japanese restaurant- really one of the most beautiful rustic meets chic restaurants we have been- this is an absolute must for couples as the setting is very romantic - dining at the Japanese we made a mistake with ordering a dish which turned out to be less to our liking. Chef Abraham came from the kitchen during service to ask about this. He then cooked the most beautiful specialty Hamachi Kama with delicate vegetables- simply the tastiest Japanese dish I have ever eaten! Thank you so much Chef for sharing your experience and talent in such a generous way- it made our evening even more special. Our lovely so switched on waitress who was very impressive in handling such a busy dinner service with such poise - the overall quality of experience at "By The Sea" was more like the ones we have had at michelins around the world.. be sure not to miss it! - at some point we had a need for some eye drops which were promptly arranged - not easy to do on an island yet quietly provided and they refused to accept payment for this which again stands out for its lack of nickel and dining guests which you sometimes see in the swanky Maldivian resorts - the flexibility of the "can-do" staff eg. asking for "off-menu" items was doen without fuss/ asking for borrowing items etc., nothing seemed too much to ask - the genuine interest in detailed guest feedback is the core of their operation as they do want to know what you enjoyed etc., and also provide forms on departure for this Whilst all staff were amazing and I am sorry I can not recall all the names we are very grateful to Kai for the best massage, the always welcoming Spa Receptionist, Naseem for his warmth and smiles daily, and last but definitely not least Rashid our amazing Man Friday who was very busy helping manage yet never let us feel he was too busy for us- we were lucky to have you as our guide to the island and hope to see you all again in the not too distant future!…
